A trekking company built by the mountains it guides you through
MountainMate started in 2010 with three Sherpa guides and one shared belief: trekkers deserve honest pricing and guides deserve fair pay.
We were tired of watching trekkers get overcharged
Our founders spent a decade guiding for foreign-owned agencies that changed prices at check-in and paid porters late. In 2010 they pooled savings, registered MountainMate with the Nepal Tourism Board, and set one rule: the price quoted is the price paid.
Fifteen years later, we run fixed departures across five regions, employ over 40 local guides and porters, and still personally brief every group before they fly to Lukla or drive to Besisahar.
Our values
Local first
Every guide, porter, and lodge partner is Nepali. Your money stays in the communities you trek through.
Responsible travel
We cap group sizes, pack out all waste, and support reforestation along the Khumbu and Annapurna trails.
Fair wages
Guides and porters are paid above the TAAN minimum wage, with insurance covered on every trek.
