Day-by-day itinerary
Scenic mountain flight into Lukla (2,860m), then an easy 3-4hr walk beside the Dudh Kosi river to Phakding.
Cross suspension bridges and climb steadily into the Sherpa capital (3,440m). First proper mountain views appear en route.
Short hike to the Everest View Hotel or Khumjung village to aid acclimatization, then rest in the afternoon.
Walk through rhododendron forest to Tengboche Monastery (3,860m), with your first close-up of Ama Dablam.
The valley opens up as you climb to Dingboche (4,410m), a farming village used for the second acclimatization stop.
Hike up Nangkartshang Peak for panoramic views before returning to rest at altitude.
Pass the Everest memorials near Thukla before reaching Lobuche (4,940m), close to the glacier.
Walk the Khumbu Glacier moraine to Gorak Shep, drop your pack, then push on to Everest Base Camp (5,364m).
Pre-dawn climb of Kala Patthar (5,545m) for sunrise over Everest, then descend to Pheriche.
A long descending day retracing the valley back toward Namche.
Final trekking day back down to Lukla, with a celebration dinner in the evening.
Morning flight back to Kathmandu; afternoon free to rest or explore.
Reserved for weather delays common to mountain flights; used as free time in Kathmandu if unneeded.
Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight.

- Sagarmatha National Park Permit ($30, collected at the park entrance in Monjo)
- Khumbu Rural Municipality Permit ($20, replaced the old TIMS card for this region)
